The farm Nomtsas enjoys the management of the Voigts family in their third generation; the fifth heir is born, but still enjoys his childhood. In early days the farm was used as a sheep farm only, yet always care was taken to farm side by side with nature. Today one of the biggest private game reserves, measuring over 20 000 ha, is established, all created by the idealistic approach of Heino Voigts. 36 000 ha are still used to farm cattle, but game is abundant also in these areas.
The Nomtsas game area we guide every single gamedrive personally and would like to show our wildlife to you. Not only the landscape draws attention, but also the numerous antelope, like Red Hartebeest, Brindled and White-tailed Gnu, Gemsbok, Duiker, Steenbok, Blessbok, Springbok, Kudu, Eland, Impala, the Hartmann and Burchell's zebra, and giraffe that roam the vast plains and hills of this red Sandstone landscape.
Let's not forget the interesting birds of this part of the world: Nomtsas seems to be a haven for Kori Bustard and various Korhaan. On a single morning walk we encounter more than forty species.
The main reason people visit Nomtsas is the abundance of game in this arid part of Namibia . Game drives are done in open off-road vehicles and take up about four hours of the day.
The small perennial wetlands and linear oasis on the farm host numerous different species of birds. Professionally guided Bird walks are only done when bookings run through Nomtsas safaris. Visitors are more than welcome to walk on their own as well.
Colonial graves and memorials are of historical interest. Insight to farming activities is also very interesting to most visitors.
Nomtsas is situated in southwestern Namibia , 50 km north of Maltahöhe on the road-C14. It is rather easy to find, since the farmhouse is situated close to the road and is clearly signposted.
Take a drive to the near Naukluft Mountains to explore and hike those wonderful gorges. (60 km)

For a short period after the rains have fallen, the lily-Vlei at Sandhof is in full bloom.
